Bowling is a game of precision and consistency in which a heavy ball is rolled down a long, narrow lane to knock down pins, with the aim of knocking down more pins than your opponents.
Ancient Egyptian artifacts show a similar 'game' in which a stone ball was rolled through an archway made of marble at nine stone pins. The modern sport of bowling, however, has only become as popular as it is in the 20th century, and was first included as an Olympic sport in the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics.
